Kuusamon rippikirjat 1850 - 1856 s. 81 - Posio, Kellinsalmi N:o 2 Newspaper: 20 March 1935 EVENING ASTORIAN BUDGET FISHERMAN'S BODY LIFTED FROM RIVER AGED EX-GILLNETTER FOUND NEAR DOCKS: BELIEVED FALLEN IN BY ACCIDENT The body of Matt Paavola Kelli, 85, retired gillnet fisherman was recovered from the Columbia river late Friday afternoon between Ninth and Tenth streets between the railroad trestle and the sea wa 2 CONC ll. Discovery of the body was made by Neil Jambertson who reported the matter to County Coroner Hollis Ranson. It was estimated by the coroner that Kelli, last seen at church Thursday night, had been walking along the trestle and accidentally fell into the river. He had been a resident of Astoria for 30 yea 2 CONC rs and of the United States for 42 years. He was born in Kuusamo, Finland. Survivors Listed Survivors include a son, Edward Kelli Wheeler, seven daughters, Mrs. Garfield Eskols, Deep River; Mrs. William Jones, Vancouver; Mrs. George Chickering, St. Helens; Mrs. Ed Rova, Barrons (sic), Alb 2 CONC erta, Canada, Mrs. Jack LaRevere, Mrs. Rudolph Eskola, Portland; and two brothers in Finland. Funeral services will be held Monday Afternoon at 1:30 o'clock here from the Finnish Apostolic Lutheran church with Rev. Gust Simi officiating. Internment under direction of E. B. Hughes mortuary, 2 CONC will be in Seal River Cemetery at 10:30 A. M. Tuesday. |
